Nannies care for children of all ages. People who love kids become nannies — for a year or two, or for a lifetime — because of the many benefits and options available in the field of in-home child care.

Permanent nannies are paid a monthly salary plus benefits. You can work full or part-time but will be required to sign a year-long contract with the family who hires you. Salaries range between $25,000 and $36,000 per year, depending on your prior experience and education. Part- time nannies earn between $14.00 and $22.00  an hour. Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick leave and mileage reimbursement.

Temporary nannies can also work full or part-time but can set their own hours and work a flexible schedule. Work is steady and regular — you can work as much, or as little, as you want. Temporary nannies start at $12.00 an hour and are paid according to the number of children cared for as well as the job description.
